How to clear recent documents and recent items
Windows stores a list of documents and files you have recently opened and worked with. The record of every document and file that you open on your computer can be easily accessed from the Start menu. To protect privacy, you should Clear Recent Documents and Recent Items.
Clear recent documents in Windows Vista
If you have Standard Start Menu, to clear 'Recent Items' (recent documents and files history)
• Click 'Start' button.
• Right-click 'Recent items'.
• Click 'Clear Recent Items List'.

• Click 'Start' button.
• Select 'Settings'.
• Select 'Taskbar and Start Menu'.

How to clear recent searches

• Select "Tools", then "Internet Options".
